I can't italicize enough through my cell exactly how badly this system pisses me off. I'm over in the contractor realm and it's still entirely accepted. That's 'just the way it works'. I'll still take it over most large company mistrust and free for all back stabbing that rocks the private sector, but fuck. It's entirely unfair and full of shit. And it's most of the goddamn military. I mean. I've accepted that I'm not going to be a GS or rock my way to the top because I just have too much pride and work ethic to fuck around and suck up or sleep my way through the social ladder. But god. Just think about this on the large scale. People in positions of authority who are just show boaters and can't run a damn go cart. It's depressing. It's a pile of crap. They do next to nothing, wasting budget to make sure they keep their overheads. Ugh.
To the drama, well. It didn't really touch me, but there are problems with all corners of the internet. How some people can let one review waste weeks of work and fun conversation boggles my mind. That's part of why I was keeping it at least slightly vague on twitter. This drama wasn't even bad. Just a highlight to this weird new PC exaggeratedly positive and self regulating fandom that seems to be the new norm. I just really want this particular author to keep having fun because their fic is AMAZING. I keep bugging Kon having conversations here and there about the awesome culture building. That doesn't make it perfect. Nothing is ever PERFECT. But the kinkmeme is still mostly about having fun. But any 'discussion' is usually met with major defense.
